Capricorn Coast Catholic Parish Care and Concern Group ministry involves visitation to the house bound parishioners and also those living in nursing homes. Along with this we provide transport to the Anointing Masses, which are held twice a year. One of these Masses is held in November to coincide with the visit of our Bishop, Rev Fr. Brian Heenan, to our parish.
After Mass the Care and Concern Group provide morning tea in the Community Room. Everyone looks forward to these occasions as it keeps our house bound parishioners in touch with our faith community, which is so important. Our colleges are an important part of this connection. The St. Ursula girls go in pairs to visit the housebound and last year they baked over 50 small Christmas cakes to give to them for Christmas. St Brendan's College holds a luncheon once a year to cater for these parishioners. The boys wait on, and care for these special visitors in a friendly and hospitable manner. As you can imagine the house bound and those living in the nursing homes really appreciate these social occasions and the opportunity to mix with young people. In conjunction with the Eucharistic Ministers to the sick and house bound, some of The Care & Concern Group are involved with the holding a Eucharistic services at the local nursing homes This group is always looking for more helpers, for more information phone Bernadette Byrne on (07) 4939 4772 |
